2027 European Padel Championship: National Top Sporting Event
The 2027 European Padel Championship consists of three phases. The first two phases will take place from March 7 to 13, 2027, followed by the Final 8 from July 7 to 11, 2027: the grand finale of the tournament in which the eight best countries in Europe compete for the title. Both the best men's and women's teams in Europe will be in action.

The tournament is organized in multiple host cities throughout the Netherlands. This gives the European Championship a national profile and makes the sport visible on a large scale to players, fans, and new target groups. The championship comes at exactly the right time and offers a unique opportunity to accelerate the further growth and professionalization of padel in the Netherlands.

Padel in the Netherlands continues to develop rapidly
The awarding of the European Championship comes at a time when padel in the Netherlands is entering a new phase. In recent years, the sport has grown into a fixture within the Dutch sports landscape, with growth in both participation and interest in events. The analysis *Padel in Cijfers 2025* by the KNLTB and EY shows that padel is developing at a rapid pace in the Netherlands. There are now 876,000 active players, and the Netherlands boasts over 3,500 padel courts. Interest in events is also growing, with rising attendance figures at national and international tournaments.

These figures underscore that padel is developing into a fully-fledged experiential sport. The 2027 European Padel Championship accelerates this development and gives the sport a new boost. (Source: KNLTB & EY, Padel in Cijfers 2025)

Strong development at elite sports level
The Netherlands is also making clear strides at the elite sports level. The 2027 European Padel Championship brings the European elite—both men's and women's—to the Netherlands. The Dutch men's team achieved a fourth place finish at the last European Championship, while the women's team has consistently ranked among the top eight countries in the world. These results give the 2027 European Padel Championship an extra sporting dimension and confirm the rise of the Netherlands on the international padel stage.

Connection within the padel community
“We are proud to bring the 2027 European Padel Championship to the Netherlands,” says Jacco Eltingh, Director of Sport at the KNLTB. “The development of padel in the Netherlands is impressive, both in terms of breadth and at the elite level.

Organizing this European Championship is a logical next step. Together with Athvance Sports, we want to create a large-scale championship where elite sport, experience, and the power of the padel community come together, and which inspires as many people as possible to take to the court themselves.”

The European Championship will be explicitly more than just a sports tournament and must contribute to the further visibility and appeal of padel in the Netherlands.

Innovation, experience, and impact
“It is a great honor to organize the 2027 European Padel Championship together with the KNLTB,” says Wilco Nijland, CEO Padel at Athvance Sports. “Our ambition is to create an event that sets a new standard in Europe by combining top-level sport with innovation, entertainment, and a strong fan experience.

By bringing the tournament to multiple host cities, we make the event accessible to a broad audience and contribute to the continued growth of the sport.”

Collaboration as the foundation
The awarding of the European Championship was achieved thanks to close collaboration between various parties. The KNLTB and Athvance Sports express their appreciation for the trust and commitment of the many partners who share this ambition and have contributed to securing and realizing this event.
